Precision Golf Performance

Golf physiotherapy and physical performance

Golf-specific assessment, rehabilitation and physical development — for golfers managing pain, golfers who have plateaued, and golfers who intend to keep playing well for a long time.

Precision Golf Performance

Your body is the biggest part of your golf game.

Golf asks a lot of the body: rotation, stability, balance, sequencing and the capacity to repeat it under fatigue. When something is missing, the body finds a way around it. Sometimes that shows up as pain. Sometimes it shows up as a swing fault that will not go away no matter how much you work on it.

A Golf Movement Assessment looks at the physical side of that equation — what your body can and cannot currently do, and how that may be influencing your comfort, movement and performance.

The starting point

Golf Movement Assessment

75 minutes. $225. A physiotherapy assessment built around golf.

A golf-specific physiotherapy assessment exploring how the golfer’s movement and physical capabilities may influence comfort, swing and performance.

Assessment may include mobility, strength, balance, movement control and golf-specific movement patterns.

This is not technical swing coaching. The purpose is to identify physical limitations or compensations that may influence movement and performance.

Where appropriate and with the golfer’s consent, relevant findings may be communicated to their golf coach.

What gets assessed

Mobility
Available range of motion through ankle, hip, spine, shoulders, and neck.
Strength
The force you can produce and control in the positions golf asks for.
Power
How quickly that force can be expressed through a swing.
Balance
Managing your centre of mass through the swing and on uneven ground.
Movement control
Sequencing and coordinating the movement you already have.
Capacity
Repeating it across a round, a tournament, or a weekend of golf.

Physical assessment, not swing instruction

TLP Physio does not provide golf lessons or technical swing coaching. Cameron assesses the physical capabilities underneath your swing, not the mechanics of the swing itself.

Your golf coach remains responsible for technical instruction. Where it is useful and you consent, Cameron can share relevant findings with your coach so that the physical work and the technical work point in the same direction.

In short: your coach works on the swing. Cameron works on the body producing it. When both are pulling in the same direction, the technical work has somewhere to land.

Two sides of the same work

Golf-related pain, and golf-specific performance

Pain and rehabilitation

Lower back, hips, shoulders, wrists and elbows are common complaints among golfers, and they often trace back to how the body is managing rotation, load and repetition.

Assessment identifies what is contributing to the problem, treatment and rehabilitation address it, and the plan is built so you can keep playing where that is sensible.

Physical performance development

Where there is no pain to manage, the work shifts to developing the physical qualities your game relies on — mobility, strength, power, balance, movement control and the capacity to repeat them.

Programming is built around your findings, your schedule and the equipment you actually have access to.

Questions

Golf FAQs

What is the difference between an Initial Physiotherapy Assessment and a Golf Movement Assessment?

The Initial Physiotherapy Assessment is a general musculoskeletal physiotherapy consultation. It is the right starting point if you have pain, an injury or a physical limitation you want assessed and treated.

The Golf Movement Assessment is a longer, 75-minute golf-specific assessment. It looks at how your movement and physical capabilities may be influencing your comfort, swing and performance on the course.

If you are unsure which suits your situation, get in touch before booking and Cameron will point you to the right one.

Do I need to be injured to book a Golf Movement Assessment?

No. Plenty of golfers book a Golf Movement Assessment without any pain at all.

It is just as commonly used by golfers who want to understand their physical limitations, golfers whose progress has plateaued, and golfers who want to keep playing comfortably for as long as possible.

Do you provide golf lessons or technical swing coaching?

No. TLP Physio does not provide golf lessons, swing instruction or technical swing correction.

The focus is the physical side: assessing what your body can currently do and how that may be influencing your movement and performance. Technical instruction remains the role of your golf coach.

Can you work with my golf coach?

Yes. Where it is appropriate and you consent, Cameron can share relevant findings with your golf coach so that the physical work and the technical work complement each other.

Your coach remains responsible for technical instruction.

Can I access TLP Physio outside Brisbane?

Golf-specific services are available online, so you can work with Cameron from anywhere.

In-person physiotherapy is only available at the South Brisbane clinic.
